Kaitlyn Moreno

Kaitlyn is a native Texan born and raised in Garland, Texas. Kaitlyn graduated law school this past May and passed the bar in October. She is now fully licensed to practice law in Texas.

Kaitlyn decided to go to law school her sophomore year of undergrad at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) when she took a business law class. She graduated from UTD in 2017 with Cum Laude honors. She then took a year off and worked as a legal assistant with a different personal injury firm. After this, she attended Texas Tech University School of Law where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. During law school and post-graduation Kaitlyn focused mostly on criminal defense but ultimately decided to pursue personal injury at our firm. Kaitlyn chose personal injury because she wanted to continue to give a voice to the voiceless but in a different area of the legal field.

Kaitlyn’s passion outside of practicing law is CrossFit and Olympic weightlifting. She attends a local CrossFit box every morning before she starts her day here at the firm. Kaitlyn also loves to travel, going glamping in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and hanging out with her family and loved ones.

Kaitlyn has never cooked a ribeye steak before, but if she had, it would be better than both of Zach’s and Brandon’s combined.

Brandon Lavery

Brandon was born in Miami, Florida but moved to Texas as quickly as he could. For the entirety of his career, Brandon has represented people, never big business or insurance companies. In order to fight for his clients and not accept the last, best offer, Brandon has tried over 75 cases to a jury.

After law school and many trials, Brandon was accepted into the Trial Lawyers College founded by Gerry Spence in Wyoming. At the Trial Lawyers College, lawyers from around the country spend a month away from their families in order to hone and more fully develop their trial skills. Brandon feels the only way for clients to get the true value for the harms they suffered is to have an attorney who really tries cases.

In everything he does Brandon strives to be a human being and not a stereotypical attorney. That means connecting with his clients in the hopes that despite going through a terrible situation, at least they have great representation and someone that cares and looks out for them.

In his free time, Brandon plays soccer, mountain bikes, and spends time with his wife and daughter. He also makes a better rib-eye than Zach.

Zach Herbert

Zach Herbert, the Car Crash Captain, went to Law School with a very general plan: to be a voice for those without one. He had no idea how that was going to turn out. So he tried out everything. Zach interned at an insurance defense firm, the Los Angeles DA’s office, 20th Century Fox, a real estate litigation firm, and others. But it wasn’t until he considered serving in the military that Zach decided he had found what he was going to do next. After graduating from Pepperdine University School of Law, Zach took and passed the Texas Bar and began training for Officer Candidate School. He was commissioned as an officer in the Marine Corps on March 26, 2010.

As a military lawyer or Judge Advocate, Zach was assigned to defend Marines and Sailors accused of crimes onboard Camp Lejeune, NC. Zach tried many jury trials and found his passion was for trial law. Upon leaving the military as a Captain, Zach continued to hone his trial skills for a large law firm in Dallas. He was accepted into the Trial Lawyers College founded by Gerry Spence in Dubois, Wyoming.

For three weeks, Zach worked on his trial skills with other lawyers from around the country. He came back and quickly made a name for himself as a tenacious and honorable trial lawyer in Dallas.

When Zach founded Herbert Law Group as the Car Crash Captain, he did so in order to focus on the three core values of Honesty, Honor, and Communication. He didn’t want his law firm to look like any other law firm out there. He wanted his law firm to reflect not only who he is, but also who he strives to be every day, both in and out of the courtroom, both at home and in the office. You can see his effort in everything Herbert Law Group does, and through everyone that works here.

Zach decided to go back to school part-time to get his Masters in Business Administration while also running a law firm full-time.  For almost 2 years, he flew to Pepperdine Graziadio School of Business every three weeks to take weekend classes.  His tenacity and hard work paid off, and he earned his M.B.A. In 2019.  Zach now uses what he learned in business school to streamline the services Herbert Law Group provides their clients and making sure each case gets top-notch service, with top-notch results.

Zach lives in Richardson with his wife and kids. His free time is spent playing with his four children, or amateur woodworking, or Netflix binging. He enjoys the outdoors, loves to hunt, and cooks a mean ribeye steak.

Jennifer Herbert

Jennifer was born in Kansas but married a Texas boy (Zach!), so she had no choice but to move to Texas! Jennifer has a degree in Elementary Education and has worked as a schoolteacher and administrative assistant. She handles most of the day-to-day office operations, as well as medical records requesting. When she isn’t at work she is a supermom of four and handles the day-to-day operations of the Herbert home.

In her free time, Jen likes to volunteer for her neighborhood HOA, play tennis, and go for walks with her family.
