Zach Herbert, the Car Crash Captain, went to Law School with a very general plan: to be a voice for those without one. He had no idea how that was going to turn out. So he tried out everything. Zach interned at an insurance defense firm, the Los Angeles DA’s office, 20th Century Fox, a real estate litigation firm, and others. But it wasn’t until he considered serving in the military that Zach decided he had found what he was going to do next. After graduating from Pepperdine University School of Law, Zach took and passed the Texas Bar and began training for Officer Candidate School. He was commissioned as an officer in the Marine Corps on March 26, 2010.
As a military lawyer or Judge Advocate, Zach was assigned to defend Marines and Sailors accused of crimes onboard Camp Lejeune, NC. Zach tried many jury trials and found his passion was for trial law. Upon leaving the military as a Captain, Zach continued to hone his trial skills for a large law firm in Dallas. He was accepted into the Trial Lawyers College founded by Gerry Spence in Dubois, Wyoming.
For three weeks, Zach worked on his trial skills with other lawyers from around the country. He came back and quickly made a name for himself as a tenacious and honorable trial lawyer in Dallas.
When Zach founded Herbert Law Group as the Car Crash Captain, he did so in order to focus on the three core values of Honesty, Honor, and Communication. He didn’t want his law firm to look like any other law firm out there. He wanted his law firm to reflect not only who he is, but also who he strives to be every day, both in and out of the courtroom, both at home and in the office. You can see his effort in everything Herbert Law Group does, and through everyone that works here.
Zach decided to go back to school part-time to get his Masters in Business Administration while also running a law firm full-time. For almost 2 years, he flew to Pepperdine Graziadio School of Business every three weeks to take weekend classes. His tenacity and hard work paid off, and he earned his M.B.A. In 2019. Zach now uses what he learned in business school to streamline the services Herbert Law Group provides their clients and making sure each case gets top-notch service, with top-notch results.
Zach lives in Richardson with his wife and kids. His free time is spent playing with his four children, or amateur woodworking, or Netflix binging. He enjoys the outdoors, loves to hunt, and cooks a mean ribeye steak.
